In the past, Dave Cooper has chaired this effort, and we have won awards under his leadership. Dave has moved to Florida, but he has offered to help with the design and engineering of our float. Once he arrives for the reunion, he will help with last minute details.

Because the 4th of July parade falls on Friday and we don't have much time, we really need to get this float put together in one day, and we need everyone's help!

Gordon Mitchell and his Crew will put together major parts of the float ahead of time, but the design is elaborate, and we need plenty of people to stuff it on Thursday. Please come and help!

We like to coordinate the float-building party with our Class Picnic. The picnic will be held from noon - 3:00 pm at the south shelterhouse of Thompson Park (formerly known as Lane Road Park), which is right across the street from Jim Long's home. You can walk between the picnic and Jim's house to eat, visit with friends, and finish up the float! We'll have food at both places, but the BEER will be at Jim's house as a motivator to stuff the float!

2009: CLASS OF 1969 WINS UACA "BEST REUNION FLOAT" AWARD - AGAIN!

Once again, the Class of 1969 won the UA Civic Association's "Best Reunion Float" Award for our creative, animated, well-populated and spirited float. We owe a HUGE thank you to Dave Cooper, who designed and directed the construction of this amazing float.

The 2009 theme was "UA - There's No Place Like Home," and our float illustrated that our class now represents almost all 50 states and several global nations, but they still love to come home to UA for their class reunions! Thirty-two classmates walked alongside the float in gold t-shirts and ruby slippers (made by Dave!), and demonstrated their class spirit with line dances and singing as we made our way down Northwest Boulevard. Nearly 45 others rode on the float.

Thank you to Dave Cooper, our Float Chairman, to Jim Long, who once again hosted the float building efforts in his driveway, to everyone who worked on the construction of the float and to those who participated by riding or walking the parade route. Our class spirit was evident, and during our 40-year reunion weekend, we proved that there truly IS "no place like HOME."

In 2004, our fabulous class float won "Best Reunion Float" in the Upper Arlington Fourth of July Parade! Thank you to everyone who worked on it and especially to the Float Leaders: Dave Cooper, Julie May Jones, Ken Pfeifer, Jim Long, Gordon Mitchell, Evan Jones and Craig Heckman!
